Pattern Grading
S.O. Sew Dressmaking is delighted to announce the launch of its professional pattern drafting, grading and digitising services.
Over the first year of developing my Pattern Business I have discovered my love for pattern grading. What started as a necessary step after searching for a professional grader provided no results, it quickly became love for this very technical side of the industry. Pulling on my knowledge from university I was able to successfully grade my sewing patterns in an extended size range and in multiple cup sizes.
As a small independent pattern designer I have a thorough understanding of the process small businesses and indie designers go through on the journey to creating a sewing pattern or range of garments. I hope to use my own experience and personal touch to make your own designs a reality.
This service I am offering includes:
• Pattern Drafting – custom patterns created from sketches, measurements or reference garments,
• Pattern Grading – accurate grading across all size ranges,
• Pattern Digitising – converting paper patterns into digital files.
As each garment and sewing pattern is unique, pricing will be based on how simple or complex it is. As a rough guide:
A simple top consisting of up to 6 pattern pieces will cost
- £60 to draft from an original sketch or garment,
- £40 to digitise from a paper pattern,
- £15 per size to grade.
A shirt or jacket consisting of up to 12 pattern pieces will cost
- £90 to draft from an original sketch or garment,
- £60 to digitise from a paper pattern,
- £30 per size to grade.
