Do you dream of making your own clothes perfectly tailored to your body and your style?
Learn how to use a sewing machine in this complete beginner workshop and put your skills to use. We will start by making a handy pin cushion and then you will make your own top or dress. Using the Arlene Dress and Top designed by your tutor Sharlene, you will learn all the initial skills required to start your dressmaking journey, including:
- Reading a sewing pattern,
- Choosing the right size,
- How to cut your fabric,
- Sewing darts,
- Finishing techniques to make your garment perfect!
This 1 day workshop will teach you all the basics of using your sewing machine and how to maintain it.
You will need to bring your own sewing machine and tools (i.e scissors, pins, etc) however if you can’t bring your sewing machine I have spare machines you can use, along with extra tools. The sewing pattern will be provided along with instructions. You will need to bring your own fabric, however if you wish this can be sourced for you at an extra cost.
You will also need a pencil or pen, rubber, sharpener etc. a notebook is also handy to have to keep notes.
LEVEL: This class is for complete beginners or anyone needing a refresher course in using a sewing machine or dressmaking.
