The Charlie Jacket is the perfect light weight jacket to ‘throw on and go’ all year round. It comes in 2 lengths, a chic hip length that is ideal for wearing with your favourite jeans and trousers, or a shorter cropped length that we love to wear with our dresses and skirts.
The jacket comes with 2 pocket options- a large angular pocket (that is big enough to hold a paperback or waterbottle while travelling!) or patch pockets to store all your essentials. We have also included a smaller patch pocket for inside the large angular pocket to safely store your phone or keys. The 2 piece sleeve and convertible collar are an elegnat finishing touch.
Skill Level: Intermediate
We have classified this pattern as intermediate as the collar and yoke construction has a few more steps to ensure a clean finish on the inside. The burrito method used is different to a regular construction. However if you have made a shirt or you are an advanced beginner and want to advance your skills this pattern will help you ‘up your sewing game’.
There is a video tutorial on YouTube to help with this part of the construction.
We have also included 2 different cup sizes and a size range from 77cm to 132cm upper bust.
You will receive an email once you have purchased this pattern to download the files. This usually comes through shortly after you have received the confirmation email and will be from 'sendowl'. Please note this is not a physical product.
Files are separated by cup size in A0, A4 and US Letter format.
Size Range:
For the Charlie Jacket we have combined 2 sizes together as this garment will not require the same level of fitting as a dress or top, and there was very little difference between each size, with the size range running from XS to XXL in both B and D cup options.
The B Cup size range has a bust measurement range from 82cm to 137cm (32 1/4 inch to 54 inch).
The D Cup size range has a full bust measurement range from 87cm to 142cm (34 1/4 inch to 55 7/8 inch).
This pattern has been drafted for someone who is 1.65m or 5'5" tall. For reference Sharlene is 165cm / 5ft 5.5 inches tall.
Fit:
The Charlie Jacket has a slightly oversized fit to allow you layer it over all your favourite dresses, tops and sweaters. It has a more tailored appearance with a 2 piece sleeve and a shoulder that is only slightly dropped. Chic but casual 👌
Fabric Suggestions:
Any medium to heavy weight woven fabric is ideal for Charlie. Light to medium weight gabardine or denim, corduroy, jacquard or quilted fabric will work, or for a lighter piece try a medium to heavy weight linen.
